In case of a reseller hosting package you do have the option of reselling web hosting services, but the resources are limited and you cannot configure much around the packages. Also you cannot transfer websites from another web host by yourself through the WHM because there is no option for this, and you need to contact the HostGator team for helping you in transferring your websites, which they offer for upto 30 websites for free of cost.

While if you are using a Dedicated Server, you will have access to everything from root access to the rebooting option and the option which i was missing in the reseller accounts – ‘Transfer’ which allows one to perform the following stuff :

* Copy an account from another server
* Copy an account from another server with account password
* Copy multiple accounts/packages from another server
* Review Copied Accounts

These are some options which can help anyone to transfer hundreds of websites at a click of a button from one server to another, saving time, risks involved in transfer etc. Also we went for the Standard Hosting package which costs 219$/month because it comes with 4Gb RAM and a extra 250Gb HDD which is useful for setting up a Daily, Weekly & Monthly backup and this is the same which i would recommend someone to go for instead of the Basic Dedicated Server because you get a higher config at a additional cost.

We had to transfer around 600 websites in total which were hosted under 300 main accounts, and the total transfer was completed within 8 hours along with a restore. Instantly we pointed the Nameservers to the new server and we are running perfectly, following which the load was normal and we didn’t see any spike in the CPU load of the server, which shows that its quite powerful in handling the load.

The Backup Drive was already configured by the support team when i contacted them for setting it up, which shows that hostgator sets up everything when they send you a welcome mail and you are ready to host websites and run them easily.

I had used a HostGator Coupon, which gave me a 20% flat discount on the 219$ fees i had to pay for the server. Overall we are quite impressed with the service offer by them and would recommend everyone to sign-up for their services.
